5) Dr Sam Beckett and Admiral Al Calavicci (Quantum Leap 1988-1993)
Sam and Al couldn't be more different. While Sam has a billion different doctorates, invented time travel and is very
sensitive, his older friend smokes cigars and carries on a continual commentary about women.
To make things even more complicated, Sam is stuck Leaping around in time into other people's bodies and is the only
one able to see the projected hologram of Al. Despite their differences, and Sam's initial amnesia, they share a mutual concern
Defining moment: when Sam attempts to hug Al in season 2, then remembers he can't touch his friend
My personal favourite moment: when Sam rewrites history so that Al can be with his wife
4) Bobby Hobbes and Darien Fawkes (The Invisible Man 2000-2002)
Darien can turn invisble. Bobby...can be a nutcase. They work for the Agency, which can never seem to land a permanent
derpartment in the government. After the usual rough start, they come to trust each other over the run of the show, and seem
to finish each other's sentences. They even want the same woman, but never get into a fight about it.
No matter how crazy either one gets (and it happens to both of them), they can always count on each other.
Defining moment: Bobby choosing to stay with his partner when Darien goes Quicksilver mad towards the
end of season 1
My personal favourite moment: any time Darien turns Bobby invisible...like they're sharing a private
3) Richard Moser and Rex (Kommissar/Inspector Rex 1994-1998)
Man's best friend - truer words never spoken. Rex is the lovable canine friend to Inspector Moser in the homicide division
of a police station in Vienna, Austria. Rex's intelligence and able assistance can always get his master and partner out of
trouble, and Moser would do pretty much anything in return.
Moser was undoubtedly the best partner that Rex had, even as many followed after Moser's death.
Defining moment: the look on Moser's face in "Target Rex", when he hears that Rex has been dog-napped.
My personal favourite moment: would have to be the defining moment
2) Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh (Lethal Weapon movies 1987-1998)
When we first meet Riggs and Murtaugh, the former is a somewhat crazy suicidal cop, while the latter is just days away
from retirement. And so they were made partners. Over the four movies, their friendship strengthens so that they'll always
have each other's back, even if the outcome might be suspension.
Riggs does play some practical jokes on his partner, but nothing Murtaught can't get over.
Defining moment: possibly near the end of the first Lethal Weapon, when they fire on the bad
guy in unison
My personal favourite moment: the car bomb scene. Classic Riggs and Murtaugh.
1) K.I.T.T. and Michael Knight (Knight Rider 1982-1986)
Despite Michael Knight first referring to his rather awesome Trans Am Pontiac as "it", over the course of the show, his working
with Kitt (K.I.T.T. standing for "Knight Industries Two Thousand) developed into a trusting friendship.Kitt seemed just
like another human character, with concerns and worries for his driver and friend. Michael even referred to him as family.
Why is this my favourite partnership of all time? Probably because it's an unlikely duo of man and machine, with a great
friendship, surpassing even those between humans.
Defining moment: probably when both are injured in the first major clash with Goliath
My peronal favourite moment: when Kitt says "Sorry, pal - forgive me!" before ejecting Michael to save
